Community Guidelines

1. Introduction

Meritune exists to help artists and fans connect around music. We want everyone to feel welcome and safe here. These guidelines explain what behavior and content we allow on the platform and what we don't. By using Meritune, you agree to follow these guidelines. They work together with our Terms of Service (https://meritune.app/terms-and-conditions) and Privacy Policy (https://meritune.app/privacy-policy).

Content you post on Meritune may be visible to other users and may appear in feeds, profiles, and discovery features. We rely on our community to help keep Meritune safe by reporting violations and respecting other users. If you see something that violates these guidelines, please report it. Together we can keep Meritune a respectful place for music lovers.

2. Respect Other Users

Treat others the way you want to be treated. We do not allow:

• Harassment – Personal attacks, insults, or targeting someone repeatedly

• Bullying – Intimidating, humiliating, or demeaning others

• Threats – Direct or indirect threats of harm, violence, or retaliation

• Targeted abuse – Encouraging others to harm someone or coordinating abuse

We take this seriously. Repeated or severe violations can result in permanent removal from the platform.

3. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

Meritune is for everyone. We do not allow content that promotes hatred or discrimination based on:

• Race or ethnicity

• Religion

• National origin

• Gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation

• Disability

• Or any other protected characteristic

This includes slurs, stereotypes, calls for violence, or content that dehumanizes others. There is no place for hate speech on Meritune.

4. No Spam or Manipulation

Keep Meritune authentic. We do not allow:

• Mass posting – Posting the same or nearly identical content repeatedly

• Fake engagement – Buying likes, follows, or comments, or using bots to inflate numbers

• Promotional spam – Unsolicited commercial content, pyramid schemes, or misleading promotions

• Misleading posts – Content designed to deceive or manipulate others

We want real connections and real music. Spam and manipulation undermine that.

5. No Impersonation

Be yourself. Do not pretend to be another person, artist, or entity. We do not allow:

• Fake artist or band accounts

• Impersonating public figures, other users, or brands

• Misrepresenting your identity to deceive others

If you're an artist, your account should represent you and the music you create.

6. Copyright and Intellectual Property

You must have the rights to the content you share. Do not post:

• Copyrighted images, artwork, or photos you do not own or have permission to use

• Stolen or pirated music

• Content that infringes on someone else's intellectual property

If you believe someone has posted content that infringes your copyright, please follow our DMCA process. Send a takedown notice to legal@meritune.app with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Notice." See our Terms of Service (https://meritune.app/terms-and-conditions) for the full process.

7. Music and Artist Integrity

Meritune is built for human artists. Artist accounts must promote music that they created. We do not allow:

• Artists who promote music they did not create (unless they have clear rights, e.g., covers with proper attribution)

• Misleading artist profiles or fake band accounts

• Accounts that misrepresent who is behind the music

We want fans to discover real artists and real music.

8. AI-Generated Content

Meritune is a platform for human artists and music fans. AI-generated content is not allowed:

• Artists who use AI to generate music – Permanently banned. Music promoted on Meritune must be created by human artists.

• Artists who use AI-generated images on their profile or in their posts – Permanently banned.

• Fans who use AI-generated images as their profile photo – May be banned. We reserve the right to remove such content and suspend or permanently ban accounts.

Music made using generative AI—including but not limited to Suno AI, Udio, ElevenLabs Music, Boomy, Soundraw, Musicfy, and similar tools—is not allowed. If you are caught using any of these tools to create and release music, or are found posting music created with them on Meritune, you will be permanently banned. AI-generated album art and images are also not allowed and will result in a permanent ban.

We vet artists during signup to help ensure they are real people and who they say they are, but bad actors can still slip through. We rely on our community to report violations so we can take action.

We have the final say over who and what gets banned. Our decisions regarding AI-generated content and all other moderation matters are final and not subject to appeal.

9. No Nudity or Sexual Content

We do not allow explicit sexual content, pornography, or sexual exploitation. This includes:

• Nudity or sexually explicit images

• Sexual solicitation or exploitation

• Content that sexualizes minors (we report such content to authorities)

Meritune is a music community. Keep content appropriate for all ages.

10. No Self-Harm or Dangerous Content

We care about your safety. We do not allow content that:

• Promotes or glorifies self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders

• Encourages dangerous or life-threatening behavior

• Provides instructions for self-harm

If you or someone you know is in crisis, please seek help. Resources are available through local crisis lines and mental health services.

11. No Illegal Content or Activity

Do not use Meritune for illegal purposes. We do not allow:

• Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity (e.g., drug sales, fraud, violence)

• Content that violates applicable laws

• Criminal activity or coordination of illegal acts

We may report illegal content to law enforcement when appropriate.

12. Political Content

Meritune is intended to be a music-focused platform rather than a forum for political debate. Posts whose primary purpose is political discussion may be removed so the community can remain focused on music.

13. Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it. You can report posts, comments, or users through the app. We review reports and take action when appropriate. We may retain report data for safety, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

We cannot respond to every report individually, but we take each one seriously. Thank you for helping keep Meritune safe.

14. Blocking Users

You can block other users at any time. When you block someone:

• They cannot see your content in their feeds

• You will not see their content in your feeds

• You can unblock them later under Settings → Blocked users if you choose

Blocking is a personal choice. Use it to control your own experience on Meritune.

15. Enforcement

When we find content or behavior that violates these guidelines, we may:

• Remove the content

• Hide content from feeds while we review reports

• Suspend accounts temporarily

• Permanently ban users who violate our guidelines

We act on reports, automated moderation tools, and our own review. We have the final say over who and what gets banned. Our moderation decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

16. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these guidelines from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated guidelines at https://meritune.app/community-guidelines and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Meritune after changes are posted means you accept the updated guidelines.
